Cryogenics is a craft. We treat it that way.

AquaVBC is an American cryogenic-equipment manufacturer based in Rifle, Colorado. We design, build, install and service vacuum-insulated systems for liquid nitrogen, oxygen and argon.

Founded 2011

Started in a two-bay shop by a welder with an opinion.

Rich Dunning spent 22 years welding pressure vessels for oil-and-gas producers, cryogenic gas distributors and specialty-chemical plants across the Rocky Mountain West before opening AquaVBC in June 2011. The first year was almost entirely repair work β€” replacing burst-disks on old dewars, patching vacuum on tanks that other shops had given up on.

The design work grew out of that. Customers kept asking whether Rich could just build them a new one β€” one that wouldn't fail the way theirs had. By 2014 we were shipping our first family of vertical bulk storage tanks. In 2018 we outgrew the original building and moved into our current 28,000 sq ft facility on Acacia Avenue.

The company is still owner-operated. Rich signs off on every drawing package before it hits the shop floor.

Principles

Six commitments we make on every project.

βœ…

Build to code, not to price

Every pressure vessel is designed and stamped to ASME BPVC Section VIII, Division 1. No exceptions, even on quick-turn jobs.

πŸ”

Full material traceability

Mill test reports and heat numbers are archived for every plate, tube and forging that goes into a vessel we ship.

πŸ“·

100% weld inspection

Every pressure-boundary weld is visually inspected; longitudinal and circumferential seams are radiographed per code.

πŸ§ͺ

Vacuum verified in-house

Vessels are baked out under vacuum and helium-leak tested below 1Γ—10⁻⁹ mbarΒ·L/s before they leave the door.

Talk to the engineer

Our project engineers own their jobs from RFQ through commissioning. You get their direct number, not a call-center queue.

Refurbish before we replace

Where a re-pull and valve rebuild will restore a customer's existing tank, we say so β€” even when it's smaller revenue.
